ARCHIVAL EXHIBITION

LA MER

This activation explores the emergence of Lebanon's relationship to the sea through the lens of its printed press. Drawing on more than twenty years of archival research, the project brings together newspapers, magazines, advertisements, photographs and ephemera to construct an immersive environment composed of sculptural installations, projected images, and light.

ALFRED TARAZI

Curator

BIOGRAPHY Alfred Tarazi is a Beirut-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the ruptures, romances, and residues of the modern Arab world. For over two decades, he has built an extensive personal archive from which he creates works spanning digital collage, photography, sculpture, installation, and film. Shaped by the legacy of the Lebanese Civil War, his practice examines how memory is recorded, manipulated, mythologized, and forgotten. His current project, A Lover’s Manifesto, is an ambitious animated film reimagining the region’s emotional and cultural history from the 1860s to the 1980s through an intimate lens. Tarazi has exhibited internationally, from Beirut to Venice, Vienna, and Milan. He received the Lokman Slim Prize in 2023 and the Prince Claus Fellows Award in 2024.
